These are a few insights I have acquired from studying a range of organizers with various styles, processes & philosophies... as well as from the clients I have worked with along the way:
The problem often is not that people are lazy or disorganized, they just don't know the most efficient way to organize their space to fit their lifestyle. In some circumstances, no matter how organized a person may try to be, they may simply have too much stuff... and let's face it, you can't organize clutter. Here's the thing though... People hold onto their belongings for a variety of reasons, so wading through the decluttering process may be emotional for some & requires a level of empathy & emotional support.
Another interesting bit of information I discovered is that people don't actually have to be "disorganized" to need help from a professional organizer. It can be as simple as not having the time or energy for such an undertaking. In some cases, a project may be too mentally or emotionally taxing for an individual, so it gets pushed aside.
It is imperative for an organizer to ask the right questions & genuinely listen in order to set up their client's spaces for easy maintenance & long-lasting success. I strongly believe that home organization is not one size fits all & it is important to have a professional that understands that. People are unique, as are their daily routines & their needs when it comes to organization. With Tame Your Space you can expect nothing less than enthusiastic, judgement-free service that is personalized to your needs!
